Abraham Lincoln Statue Renewed

Valley City’s Abraham Lincoln Statue Renewed
Liverpool Historical Society Press Release, June, 2022

The iconic statue of America’s sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln, is now renewed.

On June 17, 1926 at the Boston Road Statue Farm its concrete was poured. By 1976 it had found its way in front of Liverpool Township’s Depot Museum, 6615 Center Rd, Valley City.  There it became a landmark, warmly greeting visitors.  Countless pictures were snapped of kids and adults seated beside him.

Time and the elements took their toll. He and his top hat looked a bit bedraggled. Taking the initiative recently were the Liverpool Township Trustees and the Township Historical Society.

Professionally skilled and experienced volunteers answered the call. The concrete decay is now repaired. Honest Abe, top hat and bench have been meticulously cleaned with technically advanced cleaning chemicals.  And the proper preservative has been applied to all.  Good for many more years.

Special thanks go to Mack Concrete: Betsy Mack-Nespeca and Chris Nespeca for support and access to concrete experts, and Project Manager Marty Sublett. And to concrete expert Euclid Chemical’s Dale Mizer.  Together they assessed the need, developed a plan, provided all chemicals and supplies, and over several days completed the work.

A big THANK YOU and Hats off to this community minded volunteer team!
