Lois is presented with a hat, symbolically meaningful between these two great cooks, and a plaque by President's Ball Chairperson Terri Jones of Eileen's Cafe

Wouldn't you just know; two award winners returning to their roots in the kitchen?

Lois Nichols is a lifelong resident of Valley City and member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. For over 50 years she was the Volunteer Director of Food Service at St. Martin's and prepared countless meals at the church. Not content with that alone, she also contributed greatly to many community events such as the Fire Association's Street Fair cook tent. Her reputation for culinary skills is legendary.
In 1995 Lois was presented with the Chamber's "Hats Off Award' for her quiet, behind the scenes accomplishments. Once more she deserves special recognition. For following this President's Ball Lois is retiring for a well earned 'rest'. The Community Service Award is presented to acknowledge this remarkable contribution to the entire Valley City community. And best wishes to Lois on her retirement!
