The Chamber of Commerce believes in promoting the education of our youth.
Each year it proudly cosponsors, with the Buckeye Local Educational Association
and Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local 216, a Top Scholar
evening at Buckeye High School. Following a delicious dessert and coffee,
Buckeye staff present numerous recognition awards for scholarship.
The Chamber also presents that evening a Citizenship Award to a graduating
Buckeye senior from Liverpool Township. Selection is made on a combination
of academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. This
award has been presented annually since 1974.
The award consists of a standing plaque on display at the High School,
a personal plaque, and a $1500 scholarship check. Qualifying Seniors may
contact their Guidance Councilor for an application.

Plaque presented by Chamber President JimSandor

Buckeye High School held their annual Top Scholar Event
May 11. Jim Sandor, President of the Valley City Chamber of Commerce,
presented the award with this citation. She is headed to Miami
University.
The Valley City Citizenship Award was established by the
Chamber of Commerce in 1974 to be awarded to a Buckeye High School Senior.
Candidates must reside in Liverpool Township. It is awarded to an individual
who best represents Buckeye students, who participates in school functions
and Activities, and who is active in community projects. It exemplifies
that person willing to put forth extra effort to help someone else or
the community.
This year's award winner is Rebecca Kisiday. Rebecca has always been active
in school and the community. She is a member of the National Honor Society
and helps out in volunteering with the Salvation Army. As an active member
of St. Martins Church she helps out with many dinners and other
activities. She has donated many hours of time cleaning eyeglasses for
"Eyeglasses for Humanity".
One of her favorite things is her work with the Red Cross. For the past
three years she has helped in numerous blood drives in helping to collect
hundreds of pints of blood.
She represents Buckeye as part of the Cheerleading Squad, Mock Trial Team
and Buckeye Girls State. Rebecca has been elected as a class officer all
four years of her High School Career.
She grew up in Valley city and is proud to consider it her hometown. Following
in the family tradition as her sister Kaitlyn won this award several years
back.
She was described to us by the administration in these words: Rebecca's
character is exemplary. She is diligent, dedicated and caring as part
of a team or independently. With her energy, organization, and enthusiasm,
I foresee nothing but success in her future.
On behalf of the chamber I would like to present to you this plaque and
a thousand dollar scholarship towards your continuing education.
