Bright Star Purpose: To recognize a member from each participating chamber, who has made a significant impact on the chamber through membership, retention, sponsorship, economic development, operations and/or education.

Linda was selected for this well deserved honor by fellow Directors of the Board, who authorized this description of her accomplishments:

Linda Garrett is a “Bright Star” in the Valley City Chamber of Commerce “constellation” for many reasons. Not only does she hold the office of Corresponding Secretary for our Chamber, she also organizes our newsletter, handles publicity for all our events, and represents us at NOACC. In addition, she assists our treasurer with financial matters and answers the phone for the Chamber too!  

But those are just her usual duties. She has gone above and beyond them in the following ways.

·        Was involved in VCC’s “Welcome Basket” program, giving chamber members the opportunity to welcome new residents to our community with coupons and information about their businesses.

·        Did a great deal of the planning for decorating our new chamber office, as well as hanging the window treatments and helping with the painting.

·        Organized photos and placed the orders for note cards, post cards and frog trading cards to sell at our newly expanded retail tent at the Annual Frog Jump Festival.

·        Developed new member packets to encourage membership growth.

·        Planned a Corvette show as part of the 2007 Frog Jump Festival.

 She has handled all these duties with finesse, grace, and a great sense of humor which deserves to recognized. We are blessed to have her and hope you will recognize her as a “Bright Star.” She has certainly been one to us!
